About Us
About Furmtech
Our Mission
At Furmtech, we aim to support universities, training institutions, and educators by providing platforms that bridge the gap between theory and practice.
We are committed to helping students develop:
- Practical engineering skills
- Confidence with real equipment
- Understanding of modern control systems
- Problem-solving capability through experimentation
Because hands-on experience is not optional — it is essential.
Quality Philosophy
Our work is guided by the Furmtech Quality Triangle, representing the three principles that underpin everything we design and deliver.
Integrity
We prioritise honesty, transparency, and reliability in our work.
Our goal is to provide equipment and solutions that educators can trust and depend on for years to come.
Innovation
Engineering is constantly evolving, and education must evolve with it.
We focus on modern tools, modular systems, and flexible learning platforms that reflect real industry practice.
Safety
Safety is fundamental in engineering environments.
Our systems are designed with safety considerations at their core, ensuring students can learn confidently while institutions maintain robust risk management.
The Furmtech Story
Furmtech began from a simple idea — a passion for designing practical engineering experiments that genuinely help students learn.
After working within a university environment, I wanted to challenge myself to design and build a complete experimental system independently. What started as a personal project using readily available components quickly demonstrated the potential to create meaningful educational equipment outside traditional approaches. After completing the initial prototype, I contacted former colleagues to share the concept. By coincidence, an academic group had recently requested funding for a similar experiment, which led to the opportunity to present the system and develop a formal proposal. That first project marked the beginning of Furmtech.
From there, capabilities continued to grow. I invested time learning new manufacturing methods, sourcing higher-quality components, and transitioning designs toward robust stainless-steel systems suitable for long-term teaching environments. This included upgrading existing laboratory equipment into more durable and reliable platforms across multiple teaching rigs.
Many early systems were developed proactively before formal project commitments, reflecting a strong belief in the value of hands-on engineering education and a willingness to invest in innovation and improvement. Over the years, I continued expanding my skills in automation, control systems, and industrial hardware — ultimately leading to the development of the Furmtech FlexBench concept.
Since starting this journey in 2016, each project has been driven by a commitment to learning, improvement, and delivering better educational tools for engineering students.
